Hollis Colquhoun author of "Women Empowering Themselves: A Financial Survival Guide" David Bach and his grandmother have the keys to a happy life and financial empowerment. This book should be required reading for all women.

This book is required reading for every woman who also wants to hit a home run. The information is sound.
IRAs are one focus but when I went to my bank to discuss getting one, I found that money market accounts were getting a better interest rate currently than IRA's. While there are many good ideas in this book and it contains sound philosophy, the present economy has rendered some of the advice suspect. With updating, the book would be very good and helpful but as is, I am not sure if it has good information or not. and with a money market account the funds are available if you need them before retirement age. Charts and tables given have people earning 10% interest for example. I wish.

It addresses issues that women are concerned about. This is another great book by David Bach. Learn how to invest your money, how to pick stocks, and how to make money in the stock market I absolutely love the answer that the author's mom gave him when he asked her,"What really makes the world go round - money or love."Her reply was, "David, love is what makes life special.but without money you are in deep trouble."This is so true, but unfortunately our educational system fails to educate us about money. The author borrows a lot of ideas from his previous book Smart Couples Finish Rich. When it comes to money we are on our own.
Bach's tone was anything but condescending--very refreshing. I liked it so much that I purchased it for a couple of clients as well as a friend. I hesitantly picked this book up after the catchy title and cover art. I also liked his checklists--very useful and well-written.
